Fred Martin

Biography

Post War California artist, Fred Thomas Martin studied at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving his B.A. in 1949 and his M.F.A. in 1954. He studied at the California School of Fine Arts, from 1949-1950, with David Park, Mark Rothko and Clyfford Still. Martin was the director of the San Francisco Art Institute between the mid-1960s and mid-1970s, and he resumed that post in 1983.
